New Years Skydiving at Alabama Skydiving Center

The Alabama Skydiving Center kicked off 2005 skydiving with the Porter aircraft. Since it was New Years Day, the die hard skydivers at the Alabama Skydiving Center got off to a late start but, managed to make 2 loads.

A three way tracking skydive was performed by Rob Morris, Jeff Fincher and Laura Jonikas. Once night time rolled in, Trey Edwards, Nick Rains and Fab Green brought out the fire works to show the spirit of the New Year. And, by the way, all three skydivers almost have their “A” licenses....keep on working guys!

Sunday we switched from the Porter to the King Air. The weather was great! We took up big loads all day long! Whitney Lane and Belynda Adams performed a couple of 2 ways. While Sandy Carruth and Tim Raines completed a two way. A nice four way tracking dive by Thad Rice, Laura Jonikas, Nichole Odom and John ‘homesick brick’ Freeman proved their awesome skydiving skills.

Not only was the weekend devoted to some serious skydiving, we also started to practice doing our Hybrid skydives for the Alabama state record. Natasha Mitchell and Jeff Fincher as hangers....Rob Morris and Dereck Griffin as stingers and Laura Jonikas, Rachael Hutchens, Thad Rice and Sandy Carruth in the base. Way to go for a great kick of for the New Year!

What would another weekend be without giving a ‘whoo hoo’ to everyone who made a lot of successful jumps this weekend! And, of course, we all went out for Mexican food afterward!
