Official Date Set for the First Friday of Skydiving!

The Alabama Skydiving Center has set Friday, May 13th for the first day in 2005 the Alabama drop zone will be open to the public. Skydivers can now have the opportunity to take advantage of a full weekend of skydiving. Discounted lift tickets will be available, so get ready for three full days of skydiving in Alabama!

This official first day of skydiving on Friday will have plenty of events for skydivers of all levels. Be sure to join the freefly camp to be held by tandem instructor and free fly coach, Dereck Griffin (pictured right). He will also give some freefly safety and technique seminars, along with some additional coaching with Rob Morris.

Next weekend the skydiving center will also welcome Mark Kalupa as he will direct the coaches course, Friday night at 7pm. Those who wish to participate will jump on Saturday and will receive more training in the evening. Be sure to give Mark a visit at his newly revised website http://www.kalupa.com/.

This weekend, experienced skydivers Laura Jonikas (pictured left) and Kista Hamilton were hard at work all day on Saturday by adding the final touches to Alabama Skydiving Center's new look. Be sure to check out their awesome artwork with a great new blue and yellow hanger.

Accelerated Free Fall Jumpmaster, Rob Morris and local Alabama skydiver Thad Rice, also played hooky from skydiving on Saturday to go fishing. It is reported that they both caught four fish each!

Local skydiver Nichole Odom (pictured right) celebrated her 23rd birthday on Saturday and charmed everyone by passing out in the hanger, talking in her sleep about monkeys! Earlier that evening she was pied at one of the Alabama Skydiving Center's favorite restaurants, Sammie's Touch n' go.

Nothing but clear blue skies hovered over the Alabama drop zone on Sunday giving first time skydivers and experienced skydivers the chance to skydive the entire day. Preston Smith also received his "A" license on Sunday. Congratulation Preston! Watch out for those landings!

Finally, everyone at Alabama Skydiving Center wishes skydiving local Fab Green a speedy recovery from his knee surgery and car accident.

Be sure to check the Alabama Skydiving Forum for more information on the first Friday open for skydiving!
