Saturday's Weather, Jump or Not?

Saturday was anyone's guess to whether we would jump or not. The clouds teased us all morning. Jumpers went up early to do a hop n pop, but when only making it to 3,000 ft they decided to hold off to see if we would get more of a break in altitude later on. Amy Gravlee said, "Surely we'll get to jump this weekend, it's been 3 weeks since we have had any good weather!" Sure enough, the clouds broke apart and left us room for jumping the rest of the day. What a warm day for the middle of January! Belynda Adams made a visit to the dropzone to give her scholarship money to jumpers who made a 3.75 GPA at college this past semester. Recipients were Laura Morris and Radcliff Davis. 5 loads were flown through the remainder of the day, and all of these loads were full! Jumpers must have been craving the good weather, because this time of year we never know when we will be enjoying it! The sunset was absolutely gorgeous, due to the weather built up around us.

After the sun went down, jumpers headed over to Sammie's Touch n Go for food and drink. Afterwards, we travelled to the bowling alley and played some cosmic bowling! Rob Morris said, "In life, there are two things I love: skydiving and bowling. What a perfect day". His wife shot him an angry look and he added, "Oh yah, I guess there are 3 things".

Sunday turned out to be another rainy day in Pell City, AL. This time of year, you never know when the weather is going to break. The only way to make a skydive is to be at the dropzone. Many jumpers come to the DZ, just hoping to have a break in the weather so that they can get their jumps in, sometimes they leave disappointed, but sometimes, like on Saturday, their patience pays off. See you all next weekend at the Alabama Skydive Center.
