Weekend Jumps!

This weekend

Jumpers bundled up for the first jump of the day Saturday morning. Experienced jumper Corn Jooste said that he didn't need his gloves, he could handle it. After landing from the first load, Mr. Jooste soon changed his mind! Kate Rieker, visiting from Germany, worked hard to get jumps in this weekend. She will not jump when she goes back to Germany due to the cold weather, and her goal was to hit her 300th jump this weekend. AFF students, Josh Sealey, Ian Walker, Justin Rich and Rodney May all did great on
Saturday! Mike Sweet, Dana Wilges and Billy Vance all flew over with pilot Sandy Carruth, to Leeds, to do a demo jump. Throughout the day, we all enjoyed Ken Reeves chili that he brought in a crock pot. Great Job to Ken,
for working on his A License hop n pops. Radcliff Davis swung by in time to make 2 jumps at the end of the day and Taylor Gonzalez made it by as well! The sun went down early, and we all headed over to Sammies Touch n Go
for a hot meal. Back at the hanger we enjoyed a bonfire and a few beers. Skydiving stories were told deep into the night at the Alabama Skydive Center.

Sunday was a great day for skydiving. With hard work, the experienced jumpers organized some awesome dives! The first load of the day, jumpers Laura Morris, Jeff Fincher, Nick Raines and Amy Gravlee took out a beautiful 4 way exit and turned 2 points in their 4 way. Kate Rieker hung from her first hybrid with THad Rice and Corn Jooste in the base, with Mike Sweet as the videographer. Aiming for high hopes on Kate's 300th jump, skydivers dirt dived a 3 point 10 way for the next load. Participants included Tim Raines,
Herman Weber, Bill Keith, Thad Rice, Ryan McCorkle, Laura Morris, Nick Raines, Corn Jooste, Jeff Fincher and Kate Rieker. A 2 point 10 way was built in the sky, and a 3rd point was almost reached. Way to go! Video was
shot by Mike Sweet and will be watched again next weekend! Congratulations to Jim Plowman on recieving his A License. Also to Ken Reeves on successfully completing his 3500 ft hop n pop. A 9 way was built for Enid Erickson and Lloyd Newman's first jump here at Pell City. Unfortunately, the sun set's all too soon this time of year and the day was over before we knew it, but everyone left satisfied.
